Lucia Pearson Cullivan, age 61, wife of Paul Cullivan, passed away peacefully at home, April 6, surrounded by loving family and several close friends after a 24 year battle with Ovarian Cancer.
Born in Boston and raised in Abington, Lucia was the daughter of Alfred and Eleanor (Smith) Pearson. Lucia graduated from the Henry O. Peabody School for Girls in Norwood, MA in 1973 with a degree in Culinary Arts. She worked in a number of restaurant settings over the years; most notably Boston School for the Deaf, Sheena’s Restaurant and Stonehill College at Provincial Hall making people laugh and creating lifelong friendships along the way. Married in 1976, Lucia remained in Abington where she raised her family and summered in ME on Keoka Lake. Later in life, Lucia followed her true passion and became an Activities Director for Alzheimer’s Patients at the Abigail Adams Adult Day Health Center in Weymouth.
In addition to her loving husband Paul, Lucia is survived by two sons, Matthew and his wife Kelley of Newton, NH along with their two children Lila and Laurel “Lu” and Joshua and his wife Christina of Abington. Lucia also leaves behind her sister Gael and husband Nick, sister Maryjane and husband Mark, brother Jack and wife Gail along with many nieces, nephews and friends who became family.
Funeral from the Quealy & Son Funeral Home 116 Adams Street, Abington Wednesday April 12 at 8am, followed by a funeral mass in St. Bridget Church, Abington 9am. Visitation Tuesday 5 to 8pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to cancerresearch.org.
