September 11, 1941 ~ September 10, 2015 (age 73) 73 Years Old

ABINGTON - Maria A. Taylor September 10, 2015 surrounded by husband Deane, attentive son Gilbert, and cherished friend Maureen Sullivan succumbed as a result of an intensive and lengthy battle with cancer. Born September 11, 1941 in Torino, Italy the daughter of Vittorio Sardoni and Margherita Franza. As a child during World War II she was sent to live with a family in a rural area to avoid the city bombings, after the war she was sent to live and study in a convent school and later joined the convent. The Mother Superior realized Maria was not suited to convent life so she left the convent, moving to Genoa to live with her aunt. During 1963 Maria arrived in this country as the bride of Deane Taylor, speaking little English. Studying hard she learned English and took classes leading to her United States citizenship in 1967. Her studies imbued her with a desire to obtain information of all types. Listening and reading news accounts and technical financial information she gleaned knowledge from many sources. She had a passionate thirst for knowledge and the sharing of that knowledge to help people make the best possible choices. She traveled with her Marine husband throughout the United States residing in North Carolina, Tennessee, California, and Massachusetts. She also traveled overseas to Italy, France, Spain, England, Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Hungary, and Ireland. She was especially fond of trips to Ireland and loved everything Irish. While in Tennessee she took courses in bookkeeping resulting in responsible positions including Full-Charge Bookkeeper with Howard Johnson corporate offices, Ward Machine Co., W.B. Mason Co., a real estate developer, law firms, and manufacturers reps. She began her own successful business in the 1990s doing bookkeeping and preparing tax returns for her own clients. Maria has served as Treasurer of the New England Chapter of the Third Marine Division Association for more than ten years. During the 1970s Maria was a co-founder of the Provisional League of Women Voters of Rockland Massachusetts and during 1989 the Governor of Massachusetts appointed her a Justice of the Peace with power to solemnize marriages. She loved to write wedding ceremonies that were especially suited to each couple. She enjoyed knowing that the bride and groom got the best possible personalized rendition of their chosen words and sentiments. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of more than 52 years and three children: Heidi (Taylor) Wellman, Gilbert Taylor and his wife AnneMarie (Shea, Perry) Taylor, Maureen Taylor Golden and her husband Darren.
