Beatrice Elizabeth (Stevens) Giacobbe

Beatrice Elizabeth Giacobbe, a resident of Webster Park Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Rockland, MA.

Born Beatrice Elizabeth Stevens January 20, 1932 in Boston to Christopher and Ethel Stevens.  Both Bea’s parents were immigrants.  Christopher came here from Albania and Ethel from Nova Scotia.

Beatrice passed away after a recent illness on April 10, 2018.  She lived in Boston until age 11 when she moved to Whitman, then Brewster and Eastham, all while living in foster homes.

At 17 she married Preston A. Childs and they lived in Orleans, MA.  They had two sons, Gary A. Childs and Denis C. Childs.  Some years later she returned to Boston and married her second husband, Anthony Joseph Giacobbe.

Throughout the years Bea and Tony provided a foster home for as many as 50 children while living in Randolph, Quincy, Dorchester and Brockton.  To this day some of them refer to her affectionately as “Ma.”  Bea also was employed as a nurse’s aide at many rest homes in the Brockton area.

Bea is survived by her two sons, Gary of South Yarmouth, MA, and Denis of Norwell, MA.  She is also survived by three grandsons, four granddaughters, three great granddaughters and three great grandsons as well as many nieces and nephews and their families.

Bea will be remembered for her beautiful smile.  Visitation will be held in the Quealy & Son Funeral Home, 116 Adams Street, Abington, on Wednesday April 18 from 6pm to 7pm, followed by a funeral service at 7pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Old Colony Hospice will be appreciated.
