Eleanor Jane “Janie” MacLeod of Stoughton, October 19, 2018, age 75, Loving mother of Matthew MacLeod, Nilda McNamara, Nicole MacLeod, Nancy MacLeod, Mary Richardson Beede, and the late Brian MacLeod; Loving sister of the late Douglas MacLeod; Loving daughter of the late M. Ross and Eleanor (Garfield) MacLeod; Although Jane never married she left behind her recent life partner of nine years, Renee O’Neil. She was the adored niece of the late Winifred E. (Garfield) Burnham of Abington and Arlene E. (Mason) MacLeod of Lebanon NH. Also, survived by 9 grandchildren.
Jane loved traveling, knitting, card games, puzzles, and above all children. She was a foster parent for over 35 years and adopted all five of her children. Jane was a proud mother and grandmother. She always gave the best hugs.
Jane’s dad was LCDR in the navy. She grew up as a Navy brat traveling from base to base around the country. She must have learned to love to travel because she’d been around the country a couple times and she never stayed in one place for very long, till she came back home to Mass just over a decade ago.
Early in Jane’s nursing career she assisted and delivered over a handful of births bringing new life into the world, including the delivery of her first son.
Jane attended Rogers high school in Minnesota. During her career she worked in a few hospitals as an LPN. In the 90’s went back to school for her Bachelors degree and received it from BSU. Jane worked for many years as a school/daycare nurse and retired from Brockton Day Nursery in Brockton.
Visitation will be held at the Quealy & Son Funeral Home 116 Adams Street, Abington Friday October 26 from 5 to 8pm. Interment will be private.
