Ethel Stimpson peacefully passed away on August 29, 2018 at the age of 102. She was the wife of the late Paul G. Stimpson. Born in Boston’s North End, she was the daughter of the late Alphonse and Elizabeth Barbato. One of nine children, she grew up in Stoughton and attended Stoughton schools.
She entered the work force as a stitcher for her father. After marriage she moved to Abington and raised her four sons. She worked for many years as a stitcher for the former Tots Togs in Abington. She was also an active member of the Abington Firefighters Auxiliary for many years.
Known for her fabulous Italian cooking, she is survived by her four sons: Richard of Decatur, IN; Paul, Jr. of Abington; Jon of New York, and Anthony of Rockland. She was the matriarch of an extended family that numbered over 40 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
