Raymond Peterson Obituary

Raymond C. Peterson, 81, of Whitman, Massachusetts formerly of Abington passed away on January 26, 2020 surrounded by his family.  He was born on May 13, 1938 in Dorchester.   He was the husband of 43 years of the late Dorothy Ellen (O’Brien) Peterson who passed away on July 27, 2006. Son of the late Raymond Peterson and Margaret (Dwyer) Peterson.

He worked as a retail manager.   He started his career at A&P and ended his career at Walmart in Abington.  He enjoyed spending time with his family.

He graduated from Cathedral High School in Dorchester in 1956.  He served in the Air National Guard of Massachusetts.

He is survived by his daughter, Susan  Norcott and her husband William Norcott of Whitman; his grandchildren, Michael Norcott and Kara Burke and her husband Peter Burke; his daughter Margaret (Peggy) Blake and her husband Jeffrey Blake of Raynham; his grandchildren, Ryan Blake and Meghan Blake; his son, Raymond C. Peterson, III of Whitman, his late daughter, Dorothy Chuckran and her husband John Chuckran of Brockton, his grandchildren, Meredith Chuckran, Allison Chuckran, Victoria Chuckran, and Cole Chuckran and his great grandchild, Rylie Chuckran-McPherson, his daughter, Christine Glover and her husband William Glover, of Whitman; his grandchildren William Glover, Matthew Glover, Benjamin Glover, and Jacob Glover; his daughter, Jennifer Hodgell and her husband, Michael Hodgell of Bridgewater; his grandchildren, Paul Hodgell and Logan Hodgell; his daughter Katie Stephenson and her husband Mathew Stephenson of Abington; his grandchildren Evan Stephenson and Maddison Stephenson.

He is also survived by his brother, Frederick Peterson and wife, Kay, of Randolph, his sister, Peggy Mitsukawa, of Hawaii, his brother, James Peterson and his wife, Ellen, of Yarmouthport, his sister, Rosemary Willow and her husband Woodrow of Dorchester.   He was also the brother of the late Edmund Peterson and his wife Kay of Avon and the late Claire Peterson of Dorchester.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Quealy & Son Funeral Home 116 Adams Street, Abington Friday January 31 at 8am, followed by a funeral mass in St. Bridget Church, Abington 9am. Visitation Thursday 4 to 8pm. Interment St. Patrick Cemetery, Rockland.
