Robert “Bob” James Gadbois, 73, of Abington, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on May 30 th , 2019 after a lengthy illness. Devoted husband of 52 years to Maureen(Foley) Gadbois of Abington. Loving father to Robert J. Gadbois Jr. who predeceased him, and wife Linda, both of Winthrop, as well as Donna Gadbois of Rockland, John Gadbois of Taunton,and Erin Gadbois of Abington. Beloved grandfather of Robert J. III, Brian, Matthew, and John Joseph Gadbois. Also survived by one brother, James Gadbois, and his wife, Patricia of Plymouth.
Bob was born and raised in Dorchester. After graduating from BC High in 1964, he worked at Polaroid Corporation and later as a lead security at Zayre’s Department Stores. He then owned and managed a furniture refinishing and repair business, retiring in 2010. In retirement, he worked as a school bus monitor for children with special needs at North River Collaborative until 2017.
Bob greatly enjoyed spending time at home and cherished his family. He loved home improvement and was highly skilled in building and woodworking. Bob built a treehouse and a swingset for his children, as well as many furnishings and custom pieces. He loved cooking, going out to eat, reading, cars, and music. He also had a fantastic voice and would often be heard singing away at home.
Visitation will be held at Quealy and Son Funeral Home 116 Adams Street, Abington on Wednesday June 5 from 5pm to 8pm, followed by a funeral service at 8pm.
