Thomas LoPorto, of Abington, passed away peacefully in his home at 73 years of age on the morning of Friday, October 27, 2017. Son of deceased parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul LoPorto, Sr, of Weymouth, Tom is survived by his beloved wife Judith LoPorto, of Abington, sons Shawn LoPorto, of Florida, and Robert LoPorto and wife Lindsay, of Dedham, daughter Nicole LoPorto and husband Brendan, of Abington, four grandchildren, Tyler, Kylie, Alex, and Ava LoPorto, and brother Paul LoPorto, Jr., and wife Lee, of Braintree. Originally from Weymouth, and a graduate of the Weymouth High School, Class of 1962, Tom was a Vietnam veteran who proudly served his country on the USS Leary from 1965 – 1969. A member of the Abington American Legion Post #112, Tom was known around town as “The Satellite Dish Guy”. Tom loved Abington, and volunteered his time frequently. He coached many sports teams when his children were younger, and volunteered at the Abington Food Pantry for ten years after his retirement. An avid golfer, Tom was a very active member of the Braintree Municipal Golf Course, and spent most of his free time on the greens while “ruining a good walk”. Tom will be remembered as a supportive and loving husband, a wonderful father, and an exceptional friend, who was always ready with sound advice, a knowing smile, and a good joke.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Quealy & Son Funeral Home 116 Adams Street, Abington Monday October 30 at 11am. Visitation Sunday 3 to 7pm. Interment Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Abington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Abington Food Pantry, St. Vincent de Paul Society at 455 Plymouth St, Abington, MA 02351.
