Al Ellsworth Newcomb Jr. of Hanson passed away on November 23, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at South Shore Hospital at the age of 80.  Al was born in Quincy, MA on April 28, 1943. He is predeceased by his parents Elmer Newcomb Sr. and Mary Newcomb.

Al was the loving husband to Paula (O'Brien) Newcomb for 48 years. They were the true definition of love.

Al was the loving father to Kimberly Newcomb of Duxbury & Thomas Newcomb of Duxbury. He was predeceased by his son James Newcomb. Al was the proud Grampy to Mikayla, Marissa, and TJ Newcomb all of Braintree. Al is also survived by loving daughter-in-law Laura Newcomb.

Al was the proud union carpenter for 55 years in Local 424. He was a proud United States Army Para-trooper Veteran. Al worked for Ferry's Sunoco for seven years where he got the nick name "The Mint Man." Al and Paula loved traveling to Aruba with their friends for over 30 years. He was an avid Boston Sports fan and loved the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.

Al enjoyed fishing and golfing especially with his longtime friend Hank Haverly of Lakeville, MA.

Al will be missed and loved by all those that knew him.

A Visitation will be held at the Quealy & Son Funeral Home 116 Adams Street Abington, MA on  Monday December 4  from 5PM to 7 PM followed by a funeral home service at 7 PM.

In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in Al's memory to Scituate Animal Shelter . Al had a soft spot for all different types of animals.
