Alden C. Smith, 87, of Abington, Dec. 7, 2012, after a sudden illness. Born in Braintree, MA., He served in the Navy on the PT boats as a torpedo man in the South Pacific. He retired as a maintenance carpenter from Raytheon Co. in Quincy, MA. A member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Abington and Whitman, The American Legion and the Masons. Loved golf, building wood models and projects. Survived by his wife Theresa (Begin) Smith of Portland, ME., a daughter Victoria Smith-Fitts of Abington and Pembroke, son Gregory A. Smith of Hanover, daughter Cynthia L. Smith of Brewster, daughter Sandra L. Smith, deceased of Abington and Jeffrey C. Smith, deceased of OK., Richard A. Fitts, Jr., grandson, A. Talor Fitts, great-grandson, Michael Smith, grandson, Nicholas Smith, grandson, Landon C. Smith, great-grandson.
Services will be in the spring at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA. Date and time to be announced.
