Obituary

With heavy hearts and profound love, we announce the passing of Alexandra Kathleen Boothby, who left this world far too soon after a courageous 13 year battle with Huntington's Disease. She was just shy of her 35th birthday.

Born on August 15, 1990, Alexandra grew up in Abington and Olathe, Kansas. She is survived by her devoted parents - mother, Mary Bergeron and stepfather, Ken Bergeron of Hanson, as well as her older sister Elizabeth Gould and husband, Mike Gould of Charlestown. She is also survived by her treasured stepsisters Joelle Bergeron McCone and husband, Patrick McCone of Hanover as well as Jenna Bergeron and fiancé, John DiCroce of Hanover. She was the proud aunt to six adoring nieces, who were a constant source of joy in her life. She was the beloved daughter of the late Thomas G. Boothby.

Alexandra grew up in a very big and very loud family - just the way she wanted it. Family was the center of Alexandra's world, with more than 30 aunts and uncles over 50 first cousins, something she often bragged about! Some of her favorite memories included backyard pool parties, beach days on her birthday, shopping trips with her sister, Aunt and Mom, and her favorite day of the year, Christmas Eve. She shared an especially close bond with her late Nana, Elizabeth O. Sulmonte, and her Papa, Anthony Sulmonte of Weymouth, who remained a source of strength and unconditional love throughout her life.

From the time she could speak, Alexandra wanted to be a teacher—specifically, an elementary school teacher. She dreamed of welcoming a room full of first graders, helping them see the magic in learning, and sharing her love of reading. She attended the University of Kansas for both her undergraduate degree and masters degree in teaching and was a member of the Kappa Delta sorority. Though her path to her own classroom was altered, Alexandra never let go of her calling. Instead, she brought a classroom with her wherever she went, teaching not from a whiteboard, but from the heart.

Alexandra radiated joy and compassion. She loved children deeply and hoped one day to be a mother. Her smile touched countless lives, from family to friends, to the many caregivers and medical professionals who were lucky enough to know her. In her time at the House of Possibilities, she made a lasting impression on everyone she encountered reminding them to live with purpose and positivity.

Though Huntington's took much from Alexandra, it never touched her spirit. Her resilience, laughter, and courage redefined what it means to be a teacher. She taught all of us how to face adversity with grace, to seek out joy even on the hardest days, and to live—truly live—with fearless passion. Her legacy is preserved not only in the hearts of those who loved her but also in the memoir she wrote, Living with Passion, bravely sharing her journey with the world.

Alexandra's life was a lesson in hope and love. Her classroom had no walls, but her lessons will endure forever.

A Visitation will be held at Quealy & Son Funeral Home 116 Adams Street Abington on Sunday August 10 from 3 Pm to 6 PM. Mass of Christian Burial to be held at St Bridgets Church on Monday August 11 at 10:30 AM. Interment to follow at St. Patricks Cemetery Rockland.
