FRAME, Alice Wilkes
92 of Largo, FL formerly of Abington, MA and Duxbury, MA and daughter of Bertha F. and Charles H. Wilkes, Atty. passed away on Oct. 11, 2011.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband Edward in 1987 and her son, David, Ph.D., in 1973. She is survived by her daughter, Diane Frame Colvin and husband, Walter, Dayton, OH; her daughter-in-law, Lauren Frame, Plymouth, MA; grandchildren, Corey Romaine (Mark), Kelly Frame, Charles Frame (Lauren), Amy Burrows, David Colvin (Lucia), and Molly Johnson (Scott), and nine great grandchildren, Anna, David, Christopher, Nolan, Sarah, Gabrielle, Josiah, Olivia, and Adel. Alice graduated from Abington High School and Burdett College. She loved her career as correspondent for the Brockton Enterprise for 36 years. During this time, she received many honors from such groups as the Abington Rotary Club, the Abington Lions Club, Old Town Post VFW and a citation for outstanding citizen "Abington's Best" from the Abington Board of Selectmen. She served as chairman and vice chairman of the Abington Council on Aging for 13 years and also co-founded the Elderly Services Corp. (non-profit). On her 90th birthday, Alice was honored by many distinguished Abington citizens, including her cousin, Jack Reilly and his wife, Ann, as well as state senator Michael W. Morrissey at the Abington Council on Aging Sr. Center where a room named the Alice Wilkes Frame Fitness Center was dedicated to her. In FL, Alice co-founded with others of the class of '35, an annual reunion in nearby St. Petersburg which included H.S. graduates of Abington, MA who lived or vacationed in the area. She was also the 86th charter member of FL Botanical Gardens and a member of Aldersgate UM Church, Largo, FL. She was very involved in her FL neighborhood activities. Alice was known to her family, friends, and neighbors as a reporter (curious, people-oriented), good citizen, continuing ed. college attendee, competitive card and game player, reader, bike rider, sports fan, birder, and strong, loving, and proud friend, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who always maintained her sense of humor. Memorial Services will be held at the activity hall of Bay Ranch of Largo, 7349 Ulmerton Rd., Largo, FL 33771 at a later date. Memorial Services will also be held at Quealy Funeral Home, 116 Adams Street, Abington, MA 02351 on Mon., Nov. 7, at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the David W.
