Allan A.
Carlson
March 1, 1945 – August 3, 2025
Allan Arthur Carlson passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, at the age of 80 surrounded by the love of family and friends.
Allan was born in Boston, MA on March 1,1945 and raised in Weymouth, MA where he attended Weymouth High School. He enlisted in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Era (serving from January 1963 - December of 1966) and stationed at Galena AFB in Galena, Alaska. It was during this time in Alaska he acquired his love for nature and beauty within. After his time in the US Air Force, he traveled cross country in his Volkswagen bus, visiting various national state parks and sights across the United States.
Upon his return to the East Coast, he married the love of his life Marion Adelade Cypher in September of 1969, whom he was married to for 52 years. They settled in the town of Abington, MA, which is where they raised their two children, Matthew and Brian. Allan was enormously proud of his two boys, and many nights were spent in the backyard shooting hoops, attending their sporting events, or just enjoying time with them over some slices of pizza. He was a man they looked up to, called a friend and mentor. His sons considered him Superman.
Allan was a hardworking and respectable man who began working at Firestone Tires as a technician while simultaneously completing his GED. Upon leaving Firestone, he began a career in sales at Datel. Allan spent over 25 years of his career at Electroswitch. He was responsible for the East Cost sales division (with an occasional trip to Texas or California) and would travel several weeks a month to clients along the eastern seaboard. He was highly respected by his colleagues and clients as being honest, fair and someone they could trust. Allan stayed connected with many of his clients upon his retirement in 2007, who he considered friends.
Allan loved to travel with his family, going to such places as Florida, Spain (for work), Germany, Austria, Alaska, Michigan, Arizona, North Conway, Canada, Cape Cod, Washington DC, Virginia, Hershey PA, Gettysburg, PA, and Hawaii. He was especially fond of Falmouth and Chatham on Cape Cod as well as North Conway, NH. Allan was a man who was proud of his family (and his home), and he was a provider. He could be found many weekends (after playing a beloved round of golf) working on projects around the house or just enjoying the backyard. He also loved a peaceful walk, enjoying the earth's beauty whether it be in his neighborhood, the beach or in a park.
Allan was also immensely proud of his two granddaughters, Leah and Sophia, who he said would light up the room with their smiles. Allan was a man of faith; he tried to lead his life the way God intends and by example. He was a generous man who would put others before himself and provide help in any way that he could. Allan was also very welcoming and if you ever visited him, he would always ask you to have a seat and a cup of coffee, whether it be in the living room or the backyard. Allan was known as a true gentleman.
The family wants to thank the staff at Bridges Assisted Living of Pembroke, Continuum Hospice, and the staff at Caring for Love, for the wonderful care and dignity he received at the end stages of his journey with dementia. They would also like to thank the many caregivers, family and friends who helped provide support and care that allowed Allan to stay at home as long as safely possible.
Allan is predeceased by his parents Arthur and Margaret Carlson and his wife Marion Carlson. He is survived by his sister Cynthia Wilson (Jim) of Falmouth, MA, his son Matthew Carlson (Kellie) of Interlochen, MI, his son Brian Carlson (Amy) of Kingston, MA, his grandchildren Leah Carlson of Interlochen, MI and Sophia Carlson of Kingston, MA, along with several nieces and nephews.
A service celebrating his life will be held graveside on October 18, 2025, at 11 AM at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Abington, MA.
