Obituary

Ann "Annie" Pecoraro, age 76, passed away peacefully on July 4th at her residence in Hanson, MA surrounded by family and friends. She was born on November 6, 1948 and grew up in Marshfield, MA. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Kathleen (Knight) Long.

Married to the love of her life for 53 years, she is now reunited with her late husband, John Pecoraro. Annie is the mother of Melissa Odell, Gina Vieira and her husband Stan, and Tom Pecoraro and his longtime partner Katie Forristall. She leaves behind her grandchildren: Brendan Delima and his girlfriend Erin Degrenier, and Luciana Pecoraro.

Annie also leaves behind her brother Robert Long and his wife Mary, sisters-in-law Joan Alger and Patricia Caswell, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sisters Kathleen and Joan.

Following her graduation from Marshfield High School in 1966, she and her lifelong best friend Linda Noyes worked at the First National Bank of Boston. From there, she joined her father working at the Boston Globe.

Set up on a blind date by mutual friends, she met John while still in high school. After attending her senior prom together, they became inseparable soulmates. Following the army, John proposed. They settled on the south shore and started a family. While raising her family, Annie started working with the Abington Public School system as a paraprofessional in the elementary grades.  There, she met her other soulmates, the OREOs. The OREOs would spend decades together bonding and laughing over breakfasts, lunches, parties, cruises, trips to foxwoods, private jokes, and fireball shots.

After their retirement, John and Ann bought a motorhome and spent their time traveling the country visiting almost every state, including Alaska, with their good friends Linda & Bob, Kathie & Dennis and Suzanne & John.

Annie was a passionate Boston sports fan, especially the Bruins. She often wore one of her many Bruins jerseys and loved to talk about hockey. She loved to knit and sew and made many beautiful blankets, quilts and clothes. She found so much happiness in a good cup of coffee, a Dairy Queen ice cream, a game of rummy, a good book, conversation, and looking at pictures of her family and friends. Her face always lit up immediately when anyone visited with her. In the last few years, she had a wonderful companionship with her cat, Steve. She loved to crack subtle jokes, offer advice and listen to stories of everyone's adventures.

Known for her sarcasm and witty humor, many have also described her as sweet, funny, and adorable. She loved her family fiercely and bragged about her 4 grandchildren every chance she had to everyone; she was so proud of all of them and their accomplishments.

The family would like to sincerely thank Angela Parker, her daughter Krista and their team at Hanson Homecare for their continued love, care, companionship and support over the years. Also to the care teams at All American Assisted Living and Sunset Hospice for their constant care and compassion.

Visitation will be held at Quealy & Son Funeral Home 116 Adams Street Abington on Friday July 11th, from 4 PM to 7 PM. Followed by a funeral home service at 7 PM. Burial to be held at later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sunset Hospice, Middleboro MA and Hanson Homecare.
