Brian
Donovan
November 29, 1959 – January 23, 2026
Brian Donovan passed away on January 23, 2026. He was born in Boston and raised in Quincy, Massachusetts.
Brian was the beloved son of the late Norman F. Donovan and Mary A. (Tompkins) Donovan, and was predeceased by his brother, William R. Donovan.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte (Hayward) Donovan of New Hampshire; his children, Samantha A. Donovan of Spring Hill, Florida, and Brian P. Donovan-Ortiz of Dedham, Massachusetts; and his cherished grandchildren, Victor Donovan-Ortiz and Alexandria Donovan-Ortiz, both of Dedham. He is also survived by his adored "furbabies," Rowdy and JoJo, who brought him endless joy.
Brian proudly served his country as a U.S. Army Military Police veteran, a role he held with deep pride and honor.
An avid and enthusiastic participant in life, Brian enjoyed many hobbies. He was a dedicated dart player with the Minuteman Dart League, loved playing softball, and served as a softball and baseball umpire. A self-described computer geek, Brian was always curious and eager to learn. He was a longtime member of the Braintree Moose Lodge #413, where he served as an officer on the board and especially looked forward to manning the grill at the Lodge's annual summer outing.
Brian loved adventure and freedom, often found jumping into his beloved military Humvee for rides to nowhere in particular — just for the joy of the road. He was a passionate fan of all Boston sports teams, especially the Boston Bruins and the New England Patriots, whom he hoped would win Super Bowl LX in his honor.
Brian will be remembered for his loyalty, humor, sense of adventure, and the deep love he had for his family, friends, and country.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 13 , at 12:30 PM at Knollwood Memorial Park, 321 High Street, Canton. Family and friends are welcome.
