Colleen M. Boothby of Tewksbury, MA, formerly of Abington, passed away on December 21, 2024, her 64th birthday, after a long and courageous battle with Huntington's Disease. She passed peacefully at Tewksbury Hospital. Colleen was born on December 21, 1960, to the late Frank and Kathleen Boothby.
Colleen was the beloved mother of Shauna Taverna, who was her pride and joy. Shauna was the light of Colleen's life and her greatest source of happiness. Throughout her life, Colleen's unwavering love and devotion to her daughter defined her. She often said, "Family is everything," and she lived by those words.
Colleen is survived by her sisters Mary Kelly of Whitman, Bridget Walls of Rockland, and Chris Boothby of Rockland. She was also a loving sister to the late Johanna Loring, Mark Boothby, Bonnie Ferris, Paula Moore, Cynthia Morgan, Kate Boothby, Tommy Boothby, and Lou Boyle. Colleen was a cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews who brought her great joy.
She was a proud graduate of St. Bridget's School, Abington High School, and Massasoit College. Colleen dedicated her career to early childhood education as a preschool teacher. She retired when she was diagnosed with Huntington's Disease but continued to contribute to the fight against the illness by participating in numerous research projects. Colleen faced her diagnosis with dignity and grace, inspiring all who knew her.
Known for her selflessness and kindness, Colleen was a devoted daughter and sister who was always willing to lend a helping hand. Her resilience and strength in the face of adversity will forever remain an inspiration to her family and friends.
Colleen's legacy is one of love, courage, and an unyielding dedication to her family, especially her daughter, Shauna. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
A visitation will be held at Quealy & Son Funeral Home 116 Adams Street Abington, MA on Friday December 27th from 9 AM to 10 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bridgets Church, Friday December 27th at 10:30 AM. Interment to follow at St. James Cemetery in Whitman.
