David Joseph Wolcott Sr, 79, of Kingston, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at his home on Dec. 19. He was the son of the late Harvey B. Wolcott and the late Edna (Ryan) Wolcott of Abington.

David is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years Janice (Packard) Wolcott, his son David Wolcott Jr. and his wife Kimberly (Allen) Wolcott of Plymouth, and his daughter Lisa Wolcott of Kingston.

David is also survived by several brothers and sisters, Harvey Wolcott and his wife Kathy of North Port, FL, Kevin Wolcott and his wife Felicia of St. Augustine, Fla, Mark Wolcott of Abington, Gail Ricketson and her husband Brad Ricketson of Urbana, Il., and Jerry Wolcott and his partner Phyllis Pierce of Pittsfield. His quick sense of humor made him a treasured uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.

David was predeceased in death by his brother Roger Wolcott and survived by his sister-in-law Joanne Wolcott of Middleboro and his brother Wayne Wolcott Sr. and survived by his sister-in-law Debbie Wolcott of Wareham.

David was also the loving brother-in-law of Patricia Packard of Kingston, Rick Packard and his partner Helen Markgren of Plymouth, Gail MacDonald and her husband Stephen of Whitman, and Daniel Packard and his wife Stephanie of Middleborough.

David grew up in Abington and then lived in Whitman before moving to Kingston, where he resided with his family for the last 38 years.

David was born in Dorchester on March 13, 1944. His growing family eventually made a home on Pearl Street in Abington. David graduated from Abington High School in 1962 where his popularity with classmates saw him voted in as Class President. He was an excellent athlete, serving as captain of the football, basketball, and baseball teams for the Green Wave.

It was in high school David met the love of his life, Janice, his wife of 55 years, who was the captain of the cheerleading squad at rival Rockland High.

David attended Quincy Junior College after graduating from Abington High School. He would go on to work for Angelo's and then Tedeschi Food Shops for more than 40 years, holding various positions from store manager all the way to Director of Field Operations before his retirement from the company.

An avid woodworking enthusiast, David spent much of his time in retirement working on projects around his house. David also enjoyed playing golf, traveling to Florida to visit friends, taking an occasional trip to Foxwoods, spending time with his family, and following his favorite sports team, the New England Patriots.

Visitation will be held at Quealy & Son Funeral Home, 116 Adams St., Abington on Thursday, Dec. 28 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral Mass is Friday, Dec. 29 at 9 a.m. at the Holy Family Church in Rockland.
