Hyannis, Mass - Diane L. Schmitz passed peacefully on May 21, 2021. She was born in Boston and grew up in Mission Hill and Dorchester.

She was blessed with a mathematical mind and enjoyed working for many years at the Prudential building in Boston in the payroll department, and later loved spending time at the beach in Hyannis where she had resided more recently for many years. She had a passion for her 2 sons, nature, beading, and oil and acrylic painting.

She was a loving daughter, mother, cherished sister, aunt, and friend. She leaves behind her 2 sons; Jonathan Shea of Yarmouth, Mass. and Jeffrey Shea of Forestdale, Mass. Preceded in death by her mother, Loretta Bottary (Berthiaume) of Roslindale, Mass, brother David A. Schmitz of Raynham, Mass., father, Albert W. Schmitz of Allenstown, N.H., and Grandmother Iola MacCready (Berthiaume) of New Sweden, Maine.

She leaves behind heart-heavy siblings including Deborah Cimeno of Pappillion, Nebraska, Doreen Gustafson of New Sweden, Maine, Loretta Coty of Presque Isle, Maine, Theresa West of Wareham, Mass, Kimberly Rowland of Plymouth, Mass, Thomas Schmitz of Coraopolis, PA., and several nieces and nephews.
