Obituary

Donna Jenkins Crone, passed peacefully after a long fought battle with  Leukemia on September 10, 2024, at the age of 80. She was born on June 14, 1944, in Boston, MA, to Leonard and Mabel Jenkins. She spent her early years in Hyde Park, growing up in a three-family home with her parents, grandparents, and great-grandfather. Her family was small but close-knit. Donna moved with her parents several times during her childhood, settling in Pompano Beach, Florida where she spent her teenage years. After finishing high school, Donna returned to Boston, where she worked and eventually met her husband, John. The couple moved to Northern Virginia and settled in Vienna, VA, where they welcomed their son, Eric. Donna became an active member of the community, making friends through her neighborhood and Eric's activities and sports. She was also a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Vienna. Donna was predeceased by her parents Leonard and Mabel as well as her husband John. She is survived by her son Eric Crone and his wife Jane Douglas Crone. She was the loving Nana to Alex, Melissa, Aidan & Ben Crone. After John's passing in 1984, Donna returned to work to support herself and Eric, ensuring he could remain in the neighborhood and schools he was familiar with. When Eric married Jane Douglas and moved to Southeastern Massachusetts, Donna followed suit in 1995, moving to Plymouth to be near her family, including her parents, Leonard and Mabel. In Plymouth, Donna formed strong bonds with her neighbors and friends, enjoying activities such as traveling, golfing, and participating in a book club. She even worked as a property manager for her condo complex. Donna was passionate about golf, playing three or more times a week, and frequently traveled with her golfing friends to Florida. Later in life, she moved to Pembroke, just 10 minutes away from Eric and his family, where she remained until her passing. Of all her roles, Donna's favorite was being a grandmother. She adored her grandchildren—Alex, Melissa, Aidan, and Ben Crone—and loved spending time with them, often helping with transportation and attending their various sports events, from baseball to soccer, lacrosse, hockey, and football. Donna, Mom, Nana will be missed.
