Elizabeth "Betty"
Keefe
August 1, 1937 – January 10, 2025
Elizabeth Ann Keefe, affectionately known as "Betty," passed away peacefully at her home in Abington on January 10, 2025, at the age of 87, surrounded by her loving family.
Betty was born on August 1, 1937, in Quincy, MA, to Alexander Pierre Babin and Helen Litchfield Babin. She graduated from Braintree High School in 1955 and soon joined the workforce at Bethlehem Steel in Quincy, where she met the love of her life, the late David Russell Keefe, lovingly known as "Russ." Together, they built a life filled with love and family, raising four children.
While Betty dedicated her early years to being a devoted homemaker, she later returned to work and spent 32 years at Trucchi's before retiring.
Betty will be remembered for her lively spirit and love of games. She was a bingo enthusiast, attending sessions at the local Knights of Columbus, Abington Senior Center, and Rockland Senior Bingo. She also enjoyed playing Crypto, crossword puzzles, Sudoku, and card games. A voracious reader, Betty found joy in mystery crime and Amish novels and was a familiar face at local penny sales.
Betty was predeceased by her beloved husband, Russ, her parents, and her six siblings, of whom she was the last surviving member.
She leaves behind her cherished children: Kenneth Keefe and his wife Patricia of Rockland, Carol Ann Davis of Whitman, Patricia McCabe of Tamworth, NH, and Marsha Keefe of Abington. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will forever treasure her memory.
Betty's warmth, humor, and love for her family and community will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.
A visitation will be held at Quealy & Son Funeral Home 116 Adams Street Abington on Tuesday January 14, from 4 PM to 7 PM. A funeral home service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday January 15, at 10:30 AM. Interment to follow at Masachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
