Obituary

Emilia Jeanette Anderson, known by friends as Emmy, and by family as Mom and Nana Emmy, passed away peacefully at home, on February 1,2022 at the age of 79.

Emilia was born on March 31, 1942. She was the youngest child of Domenic and Teresa Rizzo  of Dorchester.

Emilia married Oscar Anderson at Saint Ambrose, in Dorchester, on February 28, 1960.  Emilia and Oscar then spent the next four years in beautiful Hawaii before returning to the Boston area. Emilia raised her children in Hawaii, Dorchester, Randolph and Abington.

Emilia lived her life with passion. She took great pride in her family and was a loving daughter, sister, niece, aunt, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and wife. Emilia, embodied the meaning and spirit of unconditional love.

Being with her family – be it a phone call, a visit, or celebrating a birthday or holiday brought joy and happiness to her.  She was a loving, selfless, kind and compassionate mother, and a dedicated wife, always placing the needs of those around her as her highest priority. She was, and is, the definition of what an accomplished and great woman is. We were blessed to have her in our lives.

She was the beloved wife of Oscar Anderson, loving mother of Marianne Anderson and her partner Dawn, Linda Anderson, and Joseph Anderson and his wife Donna.  She was the cherished grandmother to Joseph (Joey) Anderson, Julianne Parker and her husband Jimmy, Michael Anderson, Johnny Bacon and his wife Julia, and Julie Arsenault and her husband Alex. Her legacy continued with the arrival of her great grandchildren Cameron and Brayden, the children of Julianne and James Parker. Emilia is also survived by her brother Richard and his wife Rose, as well as by her sister Phyllis.

Her favorite past times were interior design and decorating, cooking, reading, music, ceramics and watching romantic movies – her favorite being Blue Hawaii. She loved life and had the ability to find beauty everywhere, in everyone and in everything. She made amazing Italian dinners and always wanted to feed us more and more even when we were full.  True to her New England roots, she was a Patriot and Tom Brady fan – even when he went to the Bucs.

She brought love, laughter and smiles to everyone she touched and will be missed but never forgotten.

We all love you and will for eternity.
