Obituary

Eugene Richard Connor Jr., of Marshfield, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on March 4, 2026, at the Brockton VA Hospital. He was 75 years old.

Born in Quincy, Massachusetts on October 6, 1950, Gene was the son of the late Eugene Richard Connor Sr. and Virginia (Magner) Connor. He was raised in Abington as part of a large Irish Catholic family and was one of seven children. Gene was deeply cherished by his adoring five sisters and brother, as well as his many nieces and nephews who affectionately referred to him as Buddy.

Gene pursued his education in business, earning his undergraduate degree from Bentley University. Later in life, he proudly earned his MBA from Anna Maria College.

Throughout his career, Gene held a number of respected financial positions, including roles with the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority and the White Cliffs. He also achieved the distinction of owning and operating his own tax accounting business.

Gene proudly served his Nation in the United States Marine Corps as part of the 2nd Tank Battalion and 3rd Marine Division during the Vietnam Era where he served as one of the youngest Tank Commanders and received the National Defense Service Medal, Rifle Marksman Badge and the Meritorious Mast for achievement and devotion to the Marine Corps. At the time, he was the youngest tank commander in his division. Gene carried great pride in his military service throughout his life.

Gene is survived by his dedicated & devoted wife of 39 years, Kristin (Tuff) Connor. Proud father to Joseph Timothy and his wife, Ali, and Heather Rose. Beloved "Grandpa Cracker" to Lillian, Remington, and Hadley. Above all else, Gene loved his family.

Gene had a deep love for the outdoors and spent many happy hours fishing and boating. He also enjoyed weightlifting, motorcycles, and classic muscle cars. He had a special place in his heart for his dogs, especially Zachary, Jedadiah and Pugsly.

Gene's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Brockton VA Hospice Unit, whose compassionate care and kindness meant so much during his final chapter. They treated Gene with exceptional dignity and truly cared for him like family.
