Frances Hurl of Rockland peacefully passed away February 28, 2018 at the age of 78. Born and raised in South Boston eventually moving to Brockton where she raised her boys.  She was the devoted mother of Charles Smith and his wife Cheryl of Brockton and Stephen Smith and his wife Dawn of Middleboro Loving Sister of Margaret O'Leary of Abington, Mildred Cronin of Weston, Dorothy Cucinatta of Quincy and the late Phyllis Higgins, Charles Hurl and Mary King all of S. Boston. Cherished Nana to Stephen, Taylor, Nicole, Emily and Zackery and loving Aunt to many nieces, nephews including great and great-great. Fran worked as a Dietary Aide at VA Hospital in Brockton, retiring after 24 years there.   A truly selfless woman. Fran would dance the night away many nights when she was younger, known to always have a baby in her arms, dress up in costumes during gatherings to entertain the kids, her face would light up when she saw you and she had such a beautiful smile, she loved to shop and she would use her last penny to make sure she had something to give you. Fran will be missed dearly. There will be a Memorial Service at Quealy and Son Funeral Home, 116 Adams St, Abington MA on Thursday, March 8th at 6pm.
