Obituary

Francis "Red" E. Allen, Jr., 90, of Abington, formerly of Brockton, died on Monday, August 23, 2010 surrounded by his wife of 63 years, Norma (Piesco). Red was born on Oct. 7, 1919 in Brockton, the son of the late Francis and Marion ( Gladeau) Allen. He was a graduate of Brockton High School, Class of 1938 and attended St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia. A veteran, Red served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. Prior to his retirement, he owned and operated "Red Allen's Barbershop" for many years. He was an avid golfer, card player and loved his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Red is survived by his children: Karen Panos and her husband, William of West Bridgewater, Ralph Allen and his wife, Paula of Abington, Claudia Hover of Whitman. Grandfather of Brenda Harrower of Whitman, Kerianne Panos of Cambridge, Kevin Panos of West Bridgewater, Gregg Allen of Rockland, Robert Hover of Quincy, Gina Hover of Whitman. Brother of Thereas illes of FL and the late Leo Allen Sr. and Richard Allen. Also survived by 5 great-grandchildren, many nieces,nephews, cousins, and his lifelong childhood friend, Lennie. Funeral from the Quealy & Son Funeral Home, 116 Adams Street, Abington, Friday morning at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Bridget Church at 9 AM. Interment private. Visitation Thursday, 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Beacon Hospice, Inc., 529 Main St., Suite 101, Charlestown, MA 02129 or Francis M.
