Genevieve E. Zupkofska

Genevieve “Gen” Zupkofska, 87, of Abington, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Gen was born and raised in Hyde Park, Boston, Massachusetts. She was the beloved daughter of the late John and Letitia (Sita) LoConte and the dedicated wife of the late Thomas P. Zupkofska. She attended Quincy High School and later worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield in Boston, where she made some lifelong friends.

Above all, Gen was a devoted homemaker who dedicated her life to caring for and nurturing her family. She was the cherished wife of the late Thomas P. Zupkofska, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage and countless cherished memories.

Gen was the proud and loving mother of Lee Brookfield and her husband, Joseph of Marshfield, MA; Karen McKee of Abington, MA; and Jeanette Dunbar and her late husband, Laurence Dunbar of Agawam, MA.

Her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren. She adored Zachary McKee, Jazmin Dunbar, and Amanda McKee, and her love for them was immense and unconditional. Time spent with her grandchildren brought her endless happiness, and she treasured every moment watching them grow.

Gen is survived by her adored younger sister, Joanne Matson. She was predeceased by her older sister, Grace Venuti. Gen leaves behind Jim Blushi, who quickly became a special part of her family. Gen also leaves behind Fred Caldwell, who held a very special place in her heart and was a cherished part of her life, along with many loving nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbors and friends who will carry her memory in their hearts.

Gen found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She especially enjoyed Saturday meat raffles at the Abington American Legion, listening to music, trips to the casino, and playing cards with family and friends, where more often than none she was the big winner! She loved spending time in the kitchen, where she enjoyed baking and cooking for the people she loved. Sharing a home-cooked meal or something she had baked was one of the many ways Gen showed her love and brought people together.

Gen will be remembered for her loving heart, devotion to her family, and enjoyment of life. She leaves behind countless cherished memories and will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. Her love will live on in their hearts forever.

Visiting hours will be held at Quealy and Sons Funeral Home, 116 Adams St., Abington, MA, on Thursday, August 26th, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with a prayer service from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Gen will be laid to rest with her late husband at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gen’s memory to the Abington American Legion, Lewis V. Dorsey Post 112, 1027 Washington St., Abington, MA 02351, where she so enjoyed her Saturday meat raffles and where friends became family or to CROI Health, 120 Longwood Dr., Norwell, MA 02061.
