Obituary

Gladys M. Fischer, born on September 5, 1926, on Staten Island, NY, lived a life dedicated to caring for others and enriching her community. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Wagner College and began her career at Staten Island Hospital, where she notably established and served as the first administrator of the hospital's Home Care Program. Later, she continued her nursing career in New Jersey until her retirement.

Beyond her professional achievements, Gladys enjoyed a fulfilling life surrounded by friends and community involvement. She served as president of the Lake Valhalla Garden Club in Montville, NJ, and later as president of the Women's Club in Toms River, NJ. She resided in Toms River until 2014, when she moved to Massachusetts to be closer to her daughter.

Gladys was predeceased by her beloved husband, Walter R. Fischer, and her daughter, Claudia Rudowsky. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Rudowsky, and her husband, Ronald; her son-in-law, Stephen Rudowsky; and her cherished grandchildren: Stephen Rudowsky, Matthew Rudowsky, Rachel Colonna, Victoria Rudowsky, Timothy Rudowsky, and Brett Rudowsky. She also leaves behind 12 great-grandchildren.

Gladys passed peacefully at Alden Court Nursing Care in Fairhaven, MA, surrounded by love. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Alden Court and the supportive hospice community for their exceptional care during her final days.
