Grace M.
(Roach) Mulligan
January 1, 1944 – January 22, 2026
Grace M. Mulligan (Roach), 82, of Abington, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026, at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, surrounded by her loving family.
Born to the late Thomas J. Roach and Anna I. (McIsaac) Roach, Grace was a proud graduate of Cathedral High School in Boston. She went on to build a long and fulfilling career as a Member Enrollment Specialist with Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare, retiring after many years of dedicated service.
At just 35 years old, Grace stepped into the role of family matriarch following the passing of her mother — a role she carried with grace, strength, and boundless love for the rest of her life. She hosted countless holidays, weekend barbecues, birthday parties, and celebrations, always making sure everyone felt welcomed, cared for, and deeply loved. She guided her family through both joyful and difficult times, holding everyone together with her steady presence.
Grace was "Nana" not only to her own grandchildren but also to the youngest nieces and nephews, and she took immense pride and joy in helping guide and nurture the next generation. Her smile truly lit up every room she entered, and her warmth was felt by all who knew her. Grace was, and will always be, the love of Jim's life.
Grace was the beloved wife of James T. Mulligan, Jr., with whom she shared 60 years of marriage, celebrating their anniversary on October 2, 2025, and 65 years together overall.
She is survived by her loving children and grandchildren: son James Mulligan, daughter-in-law Brandi Mulligan, and granddaughter Sophie Mulligan of Newport, RI; daughter Andrea Carlson and son-in-law Eric Carlson of Boston, MA; daughter Elaine Mulligan, her long-time partner Kevin Lorgeree, granddaughter Meghan Hulak and her partner TJ Joseph, all of Abington, MA.
Grace is also survived by her siblings: Thomas Roach of Quincy; Michael Roach (Francine) of Rockland; Andrea Norton (John) of Quincy; Christopher Roach (Kim) of Weymouth; and William Roach of Westwood, predeceased by his wife Helen. She also leaves behind a long list of adoring nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends who cherished her dearly.
A visitation will be held Quealy & Son Funeral Home 116 Adams Street Abington on Thursday February 5th from 4 PM to 7 PM. Funeral Mass will be on Friday February 6th at 10:30 AM at St Bridgets Church Abington. Interment to follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery Rockland.
