Obituary

Harry W. Jones, of Abington, quietly passed away on October 18, 2025 just shy of his 81st birthday. He was surrounded by his loving family.

Born with the gift of gab on October 28, 1944, Harry spent his childhood in South Boston. A place and time he remembered fondly with memories of family, friends, and shenanigans.

Harry is predeceased by his father Harry N. Jones, mother Mary F. (Harriman) Jones, and his brothers, Walter (infant) and Dennis P. Jones.

As a teenager, Harry and his family moved to Brockton, Massachusetts. Down the street from their new home, he met the love of his life and wife of 62 years, Nancy (Higgins). They built their life together just a mile away in Abington.

He leaves behind his greatest joys his wife, daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Thomas Hall of Abington, daughter Tracy McGowan of Brockton, grandchildren, Samantha (Hall) and husband Bryan Linnehan of Abington, Joseph Hall of Whitman, and his great-grandchildren Crosby, Marlo, Raegan, and Norah.

Harry was a devoted family man who cherished his loved ones. He found great joy in bringing his family together, like with his invention of his Christmas tradition, 'The Wheel' and ensuring each person felt special. Whether cheering from behind the baseball backstop or attending band performances, Harry never missed an opportunity to show his support and made friends anywhere he went.

At Quincy Trade School (Class of 1962), Harry learned the foundational skills that led him to a 50 year career as a Local 17 Sheetmetal Worker and longtime Vice President at McCusker Gill in Hingham. As a skilled craftsman, Harry enjoyed projects of all sizes. He took great pride in his home of 61 years. A perfect day for him included some sort of tinkering.

Over his lifetime, Harry enjoyed a variety of interests, including fishing and boating, cars, Boston sports teams, reading, travelling, film, and pop culture. He filled each day with vigor, passion, and humor.

His family will miss him dearly.
