Irene V.
Griffin
September 4, 1929 – June 3, 2025
Irene V. (Ware) Griffin, age 95, of Plympton, formerly of Abington, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on June 3, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late James T. Griffin, with whom she shared 65 wonderful years of marriage.
Born in Middleborough, Irene was the daughter of the late Annie (Kelly) Ware and Warren Ware of Rockland. She was a proud graduate of Rockland High School and worked for the phone company before dedicating herself to raising a family. Irene and her husband made their home in Abington, where they were lifelong communicants of St. Bridget's Church.
Irene found joy in life's simple pleasures—reading, cooking for her family, cheering on the Patriots, Bruins, and Red Sox, and attending her children's and grandchildren's sporting events. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy came from spending time with her loved ones.
She is survived by her daughter Jane and her husband Michael of Plympton, and her daughter Judy and her husband Tom Kelley of Plymouth. She was the loving mother of the late James Griffin Jr., Timothy Griffin, and Christopher Griffin. Irene also leaves behind many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Visitation will be held Quealy & Son Funeral Home 116 Adams Street Abington on Sunday June 8, from 2PM to 4PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Bridgets Church on Monday June 9th at 10:30 AM. Interment to follow at St. Patricks Cemetery.
