Obituary

John "Jack" Farley, 81, of Hanover, Massachusetts, died Monday, April 29, 2024, from complications related to lung cancer treatment and pneumonia.

He was born in Weymouth to Dr. John R. Farley and Gertrude (Boothby) Farley. Jack is survived by his brother William, nephew Brian, son Michael and his wife Beth, daughter Kristin, and two granddaughters, Madison and Megan. He was predeceased by his brother Stephen.

Jack was native to Abington and graduated with the class of 1960 from Abington High School, where he was an outstanding athlete, recently being selected as an inductee to the Abington High School Athletic Hall of Fame. He also attended Newman Prep in Boston and the University of Massachusetts Amherst while playing baseball for the Cape Cod Baseball League's Cotuit Kettleers, where he was the catcher for Cotuit's first two championship teams. He served in the military's U.S. Army Infantry Reserves during the Vietnam Era. Jack had a successful career in corporate sales and management for more than twenty-five years. He last worked as a mail courier for several years at Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton.

Visitation will be held at the Quealy & Son Funeral Home, 116 Adams Street, Abington on Friday May 10th, from 4pm to 7pm. A funeral home service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday May 11th, at 10 AM. Interment to follow at Mt. Vernon Cemtery Abington.
