Joanne C.
Cristoforo
November 2, 1948 – May 15, 2025
Joanne C. (Hurley) Cristoforo, 76, of Abington, passed away peacefully at home on May 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on November 2, 1948, Joanne was the daughter of the late Margaret "Peg" (Cohen) Hurley and John Hurley. She grew up in Randolph, Massachusetts, and graduated from Randolph High School with the Class of 1966. During her school years, Joanne was a proud member of the AMVETS Drum Corps., where she formed early bonds and memories that lasted a lifetime.
In 1973, Joanne settled in Abington, where she raised her two beloved sons, Paul and Mark, with unwavering strength and devotion as a single mother. She juggled work and parenthood while attending evening classes at Massasoit Community College, eventually becoming a staff accountant at All Seasons Food Services. She remained with the company until her retirement in 2013, when she chose to dedicate herself full-time to caring for her aging mother, Peg.
Joanne shared a rare and beautiful bond with her mother—more like sisters than mother and daughter. The two lived together in Abington for over 40 years until Peg's passing in 2017, and their friendship was a source of joy and strength throughout their lives.
Joanne found happiness in life's simple pleasures: playing cards and electronic solitaire, watching General Hospital, spending sunny days at Lake Winnipesaukee, and cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting events. One of her fondest memories was a dream trip to Hawaii shared with her lifelong friends and her mother.
She leaves behind her devoted family, including her cherished cat Louie, whose companionship brought her great comfort. In recent years, during her illness, she was lovingly cared for by her son Mark, whose dedication and constant presence were a testament to their deep bond.
Joanne is survived by her sons, Paul Cristoforo and his partner Michelle, and Mark Cristoforo and his partner Kim; her former daughter-in-law Barbara Rae; her grandchildren Carter, AbbieJayne, Brady, Nicholas (Steven), Samantha (Jared), and Matthew; and her great-grandchildren Brielle and Dante. She is also survived by her brother Jack Hurley and his wife Joyce of Florida, a sister-in-law Dianne Hurley as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother Paul Hurley. Joanne will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her dearest friends of many years, Becky and Janice.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 23, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at Quealy & Son Funeral Home, 116 Adams Street, Abington. A funeral home service will follow at 6:30 PM.
Joanne's strength, kindness, wit, and dedication to her family leave behind a legacy of love and resilience that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
