U.S.M.C. John William Suba Jr., 91, of Bridgewater, died peacefully on the morning of February 1, 2014 of a short term illness. He was born in Somerville on August 7, 1922. He was the son of the late: Lt. J.G. John Suba U.S.N from Waterbury, CT. and Mary (Golden) Suba a homemaker from Brighton, Ma.
He proudly served in WWII on the U.S.S. Belleau Wood CVL-24 Aircraft Carrier and in the Korean War Reserves. Also, during WWII, his older brother Theodore Suba served in the U.S. Navy and his older sister Evelyn (Suba) Shea served in the Womens Air Corp. both preceded him in death.
As a young man he had worked in Boston at Sears Roebuck & Co. and the Bleachery in Mansfield. He worked for Sylvania in Needham for many years, then relocated to work at Codex Corp in Mansfield, serving on the Presidents Counsel. He was also very proud of his membership, and often spoke about his comrads of the VFW Post 2125 in Bridgewater.
John came from a loving family and enjoyed: volunteering at the Senior Center in Bridgewater, helping the VFW and their many charities, classical music, working with his hands, Wheel of Fortune, CNN, making homemade jelly, antiquing, cooking, fishing, puzzles, cards, reading mystery books, gardening, taking care of his family and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
He is the former husband of Eleanor (Sharpe) Suba from Easton, Ma. He leaves behind 6 loving children: Jean Bettini of Easton, Theodore Suba of Easton, E. Nancy Parrish of Canton, William Suba of Florida, Linda Arruda of Florida, Carol Ciulla and Ken Ciampa of Bridgewater with whom he resided and cared for him for many years. He also leaves behind 17 loving Grandchildren, 17 loving Great Grandchildren Children, many nieces and nephews, family, neighbors and friends who will all miss him dearly. All relatives and friends are invited to attend his service at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish 103 Center Street Bridgewater, Ma. on Tuesday February 11, 2014 at 1:00pm. Flowers may be sent directly to the church.
