Joseph M. Godfrey of Abington, formerly of Quincy, passed away on September 7, 2016.  He battled acute myeloid leukemia for over a year.  He was under the care of the Dana Farber and their amazing staff.

He went to heaven peacefully with his wife, Patrice (Anthony) Godfrey, and sons, Andrew and Joseph, by his side.  Joe was a loving, devoted father.  He was known as the fun dad who loved going on adventures with the car overpacked with kids.

Joe was a Boston sports fanatic.  His love of the Red Sox was given to his family.  He is survived by his mother-in-law Kathy Anthony, father-in-law Robert Eason, and sister-in-law Danielle McDonough.  He was the favorite uncle of Kristina and Jenielle.

Joe graduated with the Quincy High School Class of 1983.  He is the son of the late Concetta and Michael Godfrey of Quincy.

A funeral service will be held Monday September 12 at 10am in the Quealy & Son Funeral Home 116 Adams Street, Abington. Visitation Sunday 4 to 8pm. Interment St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Weymouth.
