Joseph D. "Joe" Slack of Abington, age 76, died Saturday December 8, 2019 peacefully in his sleep after a long period of failing health. He was born on May 27, 1942 to the late Thomas and Elizabeth Slack of Pittsburgh, PA.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Muriel (Follett) Slack of Abington; his sons Darrell and wife Cheryl of Gardner, MA. and Jerrold of Abington. He will be especially missed by his grandchildren, Samantha Slack of Waltham, James Slack and wife Courtney of Whitman, Derek Slack of Gardner, and great granddaughter Liliana Grace Slack of Gardner. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

Joe is survived by his loving sister Janet Niemeyer of Pittsburgh, PA. and the late Ruth Ann George, late John and the late Dennis Slack all of PA.

After his high school graduation, Joe joined the Army from 1960-1963, serving a year in Korea. He then became a licensed plumber, oil burner technician, and gas fitter. He owned and operated his own business for many years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and playing cribbage with his family.

A memorial service will be held at the Quealy & Son Funeral Home 116 Adams Street, Abington Friday December 14 at 4pm with military honors. Interment will be private in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
