Joyce E. (Abbott) Christie of Abington passed away peacefully at home on June 23, 2026, at the age of 91. Born in Brighton on December 22, 1934, she was the youngest daughter of the late Robert F. and Evelyn Abbott.
Joyce was a devout Catholic whose faith guided her throughout her life. She was a dedicated homemaker who took great pride in caring for her family and creating a loving home. Her kindness, gentle nature, unwavering faith, and devotion to those she loved will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.
Joyce was the beloved wife of the late John R. Christie Jr. They were married on August 25, 1956 and shared more than 56 years of marriage together. She was the loving mother of Jean Ketterle of Abington; Cheryl Willcutt and her husband, John, of Abington; Mary Christie and her partner, Timothy Zantow, of Brockton; and Debra Christie of Abington.
She was the cherished sister of Beverly Christie of Brockton and Paul Shea of Texas, and the late Howard Abbott and Robert Abbott Jr. as well as the late sister in law Roberta Wedge.
Joyce was a proud and loving Nana to eight grandchildren: Christopher Erickson, Julie Erickson, Michael Ketterle, Brian Ketterle, Meghan Kameese, Justin Christie, Derek Erickson, and Noelle Boyle. She was also blessed to be a Grammy to seven great-grandchildren: Nicholas McWalter, Grace Erickson, Tyler Lallis, Gianna Ketterle, Johanna Erickson, Grayson Ketterle, and Miles Kameese.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Quealy & Son Funeral Home, 116 Adams Street, Abington.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Holy Ghost Church in Whitman. Interment to follow at Holy Family Cemetery in Rockland.
