Obituary

Kerri Jean Sabella, 55, of Middleborough, MA, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.

Born on February 13, 1969, in Brockton, MA, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Kerri was the youngest of six children of the late Charles and Priscilla Nelson. She grew up in Abington, MA, where she attended high school and formed lifelong friendships that she cherished deeply.

Kerri was a proud and devoted mother to her three beautiful children and a loving Nana to her 16-year-old grandson, Owen, whom she adored with every ounce of her heart. Family was Kerri's greatest joy, and she treasured the laughter, love, and togetherness of family dinners, celebrations, and the memories they created.

A lover of music—especially rock—Kerri delighted in attending concerts and connecting with others through shared passions. She was a talented writer, an avid reader, and the life of any gathering, bringing laughter and fun wherever she went. Kerri had a playful and adventurous spirit, relishing weekends on Cape Cod with family, holiday traditions, and festive drives to admire Halloween and Christmas displays, with Halloween being her favorite holiday.

Kerri found profound peace and beauty in nature, the ocean, and the sky, often remarking that these wonders were "her proof God existed." She was also a devoted animal lover, especially to her beloved cats, whom she spoke to with the sweetest affection. Kerri's selfless and compassionate nature touched everyone she knew; she consistently put the needs of others before her own.

The bond Kerri shared with her daughters, Tayler and Britni, was unparalleled. To Kerri, they were her sun, moon, and all her stars—the reason the sun rose and set each day. Together, they created countless cherished memories: exploring the forts in Hull, attending Scream Fest, braving haunted houses, enjoying shopping and movie nights, and sharing love for their favorite TV shows and movies. Her unconditional love and dedication as a mother left an indelible mark, and her daughters are at a complete loss without her.

Kerri was greeted in Heaven by her beloved late son, John "Jay" Meada; her brothers, Steven Nelson and his wife Donna, and Lenny Nelson; and her late significant other, Chris Horne.

She is survived by her loving daughters and best friends, Tayler and Britni Sabella; her cherished grandson, Owen Routhier; her sister, Debra Nelson; her brothers, David Nelson and Chuck Nelson; her nieces and nephews, Alexandra Nelson, Gabriella Wilson, Julie Wilson, Jaime Nugent, Alan Kerr, Matt Nelson, Jimmy Nelson, and Cristian Kerr; her partner, Paul Bumpus; and her five adored cats.

Visitation will be held at Quealy & Son Funeral 116 Adams Street Abington on Tuesday November 26, 2024 from 4 PM to 7 PM. Followed by a funeral home service at 7 PM.
