Obituary

After battling cancer for 3 long years Linda Jeanne Mattie passed peacefully at her home in Brockton, MA surrounded by loved ones on Monday May 6th.

She was born on February 23rd 1957 in Weymouth, MA. The daughter of Francis and Jeanne Mattie, her childhood was spent in Abington, MA with her parents and siblings Jimmy Perkins, Marie Capone, Karen Wolcott and Gail Dussault.

After graduating from Salem State College with bachelors in Education, Linda married John McBrine on June 26th 1981 and though they divorced in 2000 they rekindled their romance in 2013 and had enjoyed the last 10 plus years together going on various adventures and watching the family they built together grow.

She was a loving Mom, Mother in Law and Grammy to Shawn & Erin McBrine of Carver MA and their children Finna and Ronan. Patrick & Catherine McBrine of Whitman, MA and their daughters Nola and Mattie Rae. Kayla & Justin Goldsberry of Brockton, MA and their sons Banner and Quill.

In her adult life Linda was a teacher professionally she worked and various schools at the high school and later preschool levels throughout Massachusetts and Florida. She also spent several years as an aide at New England Villiage in Pembroke, MA.

Linda spread Joy, Love and Positivity wherever she went and a had a desire to enjoy life to the fullest always planning her next adventure. Her family was always the most important thing in her life. She was extremely active in several groups while her children were growing up in Norwell Ma. She served as PTO president for Norwell's Grace Farrah Cole Elementary for over 5 years. During that time she helped fund several massive improvements to the school and community including a new playground. She also was one of the founding members and treasurer for the Friends of Norwell High School Hockey a group of parents that eventually brought the sport to the town at the high school level in the late 1990's.

Since 2014 Linda had entered one of her favorite roles in life Grammy. This was a role she was born to do and one she excelled at, always planning various day trips, cousin crew sleepovers and never missing any of her grand children's school or extra-curricular activities no matter how small.

Linda was always happiest when her family was all together at her home in Brockton be it for a special occasion, a random grill night at the pool in the summer or to watch her beloved Boston Bruins together in the winter. We will all miss her dearly but always have the memories of the laughter, love and joy we shared together.
