Lisa M.
Martin
June 5, 1967 – July 26, 2024
Lisa (Cross) Martin of Norwell, MA died peacefully on Friday, July 26, 2024 at home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous three-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Throughout her battle she fought with a bright smile and positive attitude and she will always be remembered for her caring and loving personality.
Born in Worcester, MA on June 5, 1967 she was the daughter of Joan (Gribbons) Cross and the late Ronald Cross. She is predeceased by her amazing in-laws, Ruth and Lenny Small of MA/WI.
Lisa is survived by her loving and devoted husband Charles "Chuck" Martin of 26 years, her beloved children Ryan, Allison, Jennifer and Abigail. She leaves three sisters, Dianne Morrill of Greer, SC, Melissa Brady of Worcester, MA and Siobhan Mariscal of Worcester, MA and two brothers, Patrick Cross of Paxton, MA and Eric Cross of Kingwood, TX and a sister-in-law Kim Wohler of DeForest, WI. She leaves behind her aunt and uncle and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lisa graduated from St. Peter Marian High School in Worcester, MA in 1985 and went on to graduate from Southeastern Massachusetts University with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing in 1990. She was a dedicated registered nurse for over 30 years at Boston Children's Hospital. Her infectious smile and personality and her way of treating her patients like they were her very own children always gave comfort to all the families that she came across. She provided unwavering, loving and personal care to each and every patient.
Lisa was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt. Her pride and joy were her children, supporting them during cross country and track season, theatre productions, Girls Scouts as a troop leader and so much more. Lisa loved supporting her devoted husband, a longtime cross country and track and field coach at Norwell High School, during his seasons. Once again treating all his runners like they were her own. She had a passion for the outdoors especially walking, running or hiking so many of her favorite spots. Lisa enjoyed her many family vacations to Maine and she was the backbone of the famous and unforgettable annual camping trip in Groton, VT, that so many came to love and enjoy.
We would like to thank the amazing care that Lisa received from Dana Farber Cancer Center and Brigham and Women's Hospital over the past three years, especially Dr. Perez, Hannah McGoldrick, RN as well as all the other doctors, researchers, radiologists and techs, nursing assistants and nurses for all their loving and personal care. A special thank you to her co-workers at Boston Children's Hospital, their texts and Facebook comments through all of this was encouraging to Lisa beyond words. A big thank you to the Norwell community for their thoughtfulness, generosity and care they showed Lisa and her family. She was blessed to live in such a wonderful and caring town.
Lisa's family and friends are invited to celebrate her life on Friday August 2, at 10 AM, at St. Mary of the Nativity 1 Kent Street Scituate, MA. Lisa requested everyone wear bright colors to the church.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in memory of Lisa to the Dana-Farber and Jimmy Fund .
