Obituary

It is with great sadness and much love we mourn the loss of Louise (Rand) Robbins of Abington who passed away on January 7th 2024, at the age of 95. She is survived by her daughters Anita (Rogers) Riley, Lee (Rogers) Shay and son-in-law Francis (Frank) Shay with whom she resided.

Louise was preceded in death by her beloved sister Eleanor (Rand) Peterson, brothers, James and George, son-in-law Thomas Riley, grandchildren Heidi and Jonathan Riley.

Widowed at the age of 23 with 2 small children Louise pursued a career in healthcare. Although hearing impaired, she obtained a certification as an X-ray Technician. She was initially employed by South Shore Hospital and subsequently in private practice for a gastroenterologist until her retirement.

Louise raised her daughters in Weymouth. Louise, her children and granddaughter each attending Sacred Heart School.

Louise was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church until 1995.  Thereafter becoming a Eucharistic Minister serving daily Mass at Holy Family Church in Rockland and a rosary prayer group participant.

Louise was a doer with a tenacious spirit. As a child of the depression and a struggling single parent she would find use for things most people would throw away. She believed 'necessity is the mother of invention.'

She instilled in her children, by example, the need to give back to society by volunteering and committing random acts of kindness. She was an avid letter writer, poet, and creator of beautiful twilled cards, embroidered pillows, crocheted and knitted afghans.

She was unique in every way and a joyful presence wherever she was with her creative fashion choices, beautiful smile and kind and generous nature.

Louise loved reading, animals, chocolate, tea, yard sales, thrift shops, growing roses, watching tv and most of all her family and friends.

She will be forever missed by all that had the privilege of knowing her.
