Obituary

Marilyn Rita Nickley, 87 years old of Abington entered into eternal rest with her loving family by her side on February 2, 2022. Marilyn was predeceased by her parents John B Kelly and Mildred Clauss Kelly. Marilyn entered this world in September 21, 1934 in Boston, MA. She was raised in Dorchester and graduated from Dorchester High School in 1952. She found the love of her life Joseph T. Nickley Sr. and they married on September 27, 1953. They lived in Dorchester prior to moving to Abington in 1965.

Marilyn held many jobs while raising her family. She graduated from Massasoit Community College in 1981 and began working for Brockton Hospital as a unit coordinator on a patient floor. She subsequently worked as an admissions coordinator in the Physical Therapy Department until her retirement in 2010. Marilyn taught CCD at St. Bridget's and volunteered for many organizations in Abington, her children's schools and their activities.

Pre-deceased by her husband Joseph Nickley Sr. and her daughter Janet Madigan. She is survived by her children Deacon Joseph Nickley Jr. and his wife Rhonda of Abington, John Nickley and his wife Jeanne of Abington, Michael Nickley and his wife Judy of Norwood, Geraldine Capachione and her husband Stephen of Whitman, Richard Nickley and his wife Lynn of Abington, and her son-in-law Patrick Madigan of Bridgewater.

Marilyn was the loving Grammy to JT Nickley and his wife Jackie; Caitlin, Ashley, Stephen Jr. Meghan, Andrew and his wife Christine, Emily and Victoria Capachione; Jack Nickley and his wife Caylee, Jason Nickley and his wife Sara, Jennifer and her husband Chris Beck, Julie and her husband James Nelson; Sean Nickley and his wife Emma, Brian Nickley, Michael Nickley; Patrick Madigan lll and his wife Jessica, Evan Madigan; Katherine Nickley and her husband Nick Sever, Sarah and Matthew Nickley.

She was the loving great Grammy to Brynn, Lauren, Camryn, Adam, Eli, Reece, Luke, Evan, PJ, Kellen, Nora, Landon, Christian, Molly, Madeline, Joel, Lilianna, Camille, Jace, Jordana and predeceased by Jonah.

Visitation will be held at the Quealy & Son Funeral Home 116 Adams Street, Abington on Sunday February 6 from 1 to 4pm. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday at St. Bridget Church, Abington 12pm. Interment St. Patrick Cemetery, Rockland. Donations in her memory may be made to the Joseph and Marilyn Nickley scholarship fund at Cardinal Spellman High School, Brockton, MA, 02302.
