Mark S. "Choka" Chirokas, 52, of Abington, died on Feb. 20, 2013 in Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, following a 14 month courageous battle with leukemia.
He was born in Boston, son of the late William and Elizabeth A. Chirokas and was raised and educated in Abington. He was a graduate of Thomas College (BS Degree) in Waterville, Maine.
Mark was a 20 year employee of the Town of Abington, serving as the Superintendent of the Parks & Recreation Department. A proud football coach, he coached the Abington Greenwave for 25 years. Mark served as Chairman of the Strawberry Valley Golf Course for many years and enjoyed working with all the Abington youth sports organizations.
Beloved husband of Patti (Langley). Adored father of Taylor and Brandon of Abington. Loving brother of David S. and his wife, Melanie of Abington. Also survived by nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and many loving friends.
Visitation on Thursday, (Feb. 28, 2013) from 3-8 PM at Quealy & Son Funeral Home, 116 Adams Street, Abington.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, (March 1, 2013) at 9 a.m. in St. Bridget Church. Please go directly to the church. Cremation will follow.
