He was the beloved husband of Evelyn (Carter) Cloutier, with whom he shared 62 wonderful years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, on February 23, 1944, Maurice was the son of the late Henry A. and Jeannette (Jussaume) Cloutier.
Maurice proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, spending four years stationed at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, California. Following his military service, he and Evelyn spent a few years living in California before returning to Massachusetts and settling in Rockland in 1971.
Throughout his life, Maurice was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his career. He held positions with TWA Airlines and as a chef at the historic Parker House in Boston. He took particular pride in his 42-year career at Howard Chevrolet, where he worked as an auto body mechanic before eventually becoming a manager. He retired at the age of 62.
In retirement, Maurice enjoyed spending time doing the things he loved most. An avid traveler and camper, he and Evelyn shared countless adventures with friends, camping throughout New England, including Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. Las Vegas was among their favorite travel destinations. Maurice also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and building model trains and airplanes, hobbies that reflected his patience, skill, and attention to detail.
Above all, Maurice treasured time spent with his family. He especially enjoyed gathering with loved ones for holidays and special occasions, creating lasting memories that will be cherished for years to come. He held a special place in the hearts of his granddaughters, who affectionately knew him as “Pepe.”
In addition to his beloved wife, Evelyn, Maurice is survived by his son, Maurice H. Cloutier and his wife, Alisa (Jardin) Cloutier, and his granddaughters, Ashley and Alexa Cloutier of Bridgewater; his brother, Robert Cloutier and his late wife, Sheila (Mahoney) Cloutier of Foxboro. He was predeceased by his sister, Madeline (Cloutier) Mann, wife of Albert Mann of Florida.
He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews, including Amy and Bobby Cloutier, and Colette, Stacy, and Sheila Carter.
