Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Melville L DeYulus Sr, 88, of Abington on August 23, 2024 at home peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 16, 1936 in Quincy, Massachusetts , the son of the late Melville D DeYulus and Agnes (Gilmore)DeYulus. Raised and educated in Quincy, Massachusetts, Melville resided in Abington, Massachusetts for the last 66 years. After graduating from Quincy Vo-Tech he joined the Army. Mel was in the 510th Battalion~3rd Armor Division, where he reached  the rank of Sargent before his Honorable discharge in 1959. He returned home and became employed by Bethlehem Steel Company~Quincy Shipyard until leaving and starting a job at Old Colony Crushed Stone for over 30 years.

His greatest accomplishment,however, was his family who he cherished and was devoted to. Beloved husband of the late Adele J (Tuttle) DeYulus. Devoted father of Adele M Leonard and her husband Dana of Abington, Donna M Green and her husband Eric of Whitman, Melville L DeYulus Jr and his wife Leslie of Abington, Lisa J Cashman and her husband James of Abington and Charles M DeYulus and his wife Cathy of Fort Myers,Florida. Loving brother of Donna R Costa and her husband James of Weymouth and the late Louise Solomon and her late husband Francis. He was the proud Papa of Alyssa, Bryan and his wife Thais, Jonathan and his wife Emma, Joshua, Jessica ,Melville and his wife Tina, Luke and his wife Kasandra, Matthew, Ryan and Alyssa Alden ,Timothy , Marisa , Haley and her fiancé Kerven, Devin and Nicholas . He is also the proud Great Papa of 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank his devoted team of doctors and Old Colony Hospice for all the wonderful care he was given.

Visitation will be held at the Quealy & Son Funeral Home on Thursday August 29 from 5pm to 8pm. A funeral service will be held Friday at the Quealy & Son Funeral Home at 11am. Interment will follow in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
