Pamela "Pam" Anne Gillespie

Pamela Anne Gillespie, 76, of Plymouth, passed away on September 12, 2026 surrounded by her loving family at Beth Israel Hospital in Plymouth. 

Pamela “Pam” Anne Gillespie was born on April 4, 1950, in Providence, Rhode Island, to the late Byron Drummond and Fay C. Drummond.

Pam leaves behind her beloved husband of 40 years, William Jay Gillespie of Plymouth; her stepson, Craig Gillespie and his wife Amanda of Marshfield; and her stepdaughter, Lynn Lappas of Plymouth. She was the loving grandmother of four grandchildren, Wyatt Gillespie, Lukas Gillespie, Dylan Gillespie, and Alison Lappas.

Pam was predeceased by her siblings, Cheryl Iliff, formerly of Melbourne, Florida; Byron Drummond, formerly of Stamford, Connecticut; and Laurie Drummond, formerly of Boston.

Pam dedicated much of her life to the nursing profession and began her career in 1969 as a Licensed Practical Nurse at White Plains Hospital in New York. She continued her education and earned her Registered Nursing degree from the University of Bridgeport in 1972. She worked in the Intensive Care Unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Stamford, Connecticut, from 1970 until 1975.

After moving to the Boston area, Pam worked in the Coronary Care Unit at Beth Israel Hospital from 1975 to 1981. She also served as a Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurse at the Cardiovascular Health and Exercise Center at Northeastern University from 1979 to 1981. Her commitment to education continued throughout her career, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1980 and a Master of Science in Nursing in 1993, both from Northeastern University.

Pam went on to serve as Director of Cardiac Rehabilitation at New England Memorial Hospital in Stoneham from 1982 to 1986. After moving to the South Shore, she became Nurse Manager of the Coronary Care and Cardiac Step-Down Units at South Shore Hospital in South Weymouth, where she worked from 1986 to 1997.

She later joined Harbor Medical Associates in South Weymouth, serving as Director of Clinical Services from 1997 to 2007 and later as Director of Quality from 2010 to 2015. Between those roles, she returned to South Shore Hospital, where she served as Director of Occupational Health from 2007 to 2010.

Throughout her long and accomplished nursing career, Pam devoted herself to caring for others and improving the quality of healthcare within the communities she served.

Outside of her professional life, Pam enjoyed spending time with her family and pursuing the things that brought her happiness. She especially enjoyed playing golf, scrapbooking, traveling, and spending her winters in Florida. Most of all, she cherished the time she spent with her family and friends, creating lasting memories with those she loved.

Pam will be remembered for her dedication to her family, her many years of service to the nursing profession, and the care and compassion she showed throughout her life.

A Visitation will be held at Queal & Son Funeral Home on Friday September 18 from 9 AM to 11 AM. Followed by a funeral home service at 11 AM. Interment to follow at MT. Vernon Cemetery Abington

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Pam’s memory to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
