Patrick Edward
Rogers
August 21, 1953 – December 12, 2021
Patrick E. Rogers of Southie, Abington, Middleborough, and New Bedford died peacefully on December 12, 2021, completing a life well lived. Pat was an avid traveler, having traveled on multiple occasions to the United Kingdom and Ireland, communist East Germany, and across the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada. His career spanned 45 years in the drinking water field, as a water works manager, design engineer and the financing of drinking water and wastewater projects with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection.
Pat was a gentleman farmer, beekeeper, and a diehard Boston Patriots fan and former season ticket holder, having started at Fenway Park with his father, in the early 1960's. A proponent of community service, he served as a Middleborough Selectman, Chairman of the Capital Planning and Landfill Privatization Committees, and the Middleborough Junior High Building Committee, and most recently as a City of New Bedford Water Commissioner. He was a founding member of the Taunton River Wild and Scenic River Committee whose efforts resulted in federal recognition of the Taunton River as a historic wild and scenic river.
Patrick was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend who was eternally grateful for the gift of a kidney from his beloved wife, Maria Vazquez, which allowed him to share many additional years with his family. The memories he created will forever be cherished by his wife and children: Katie May Rogers, and Benjamin Rogers; stepchildren: Jacqueline Holdsworth, Timothy Grungo, Francis Grungo, and Anne-Marie Grungo; his beloved grandchildren, Kian, Jeremiah, Olivia, and Aubrey, along with sisters Ellen Pitts, Mary Jane Eaton, and Anne Marie Buckley, and countless friends as he joins his parents, Clarence and Estelle Rogers, sister Ruth Ann Maliski and brother George Rogers in Heaven.
Funeral services are private. His family will host a Celebration of Life memorial service in the Spring of 2022, date and location TBA. His virtual memorial page is available through Quealy & Sons Funeral Services Website: https://www.quealyandson.com
