Obituary

Richard G. Burns of Abington, November 26, age 85, beloved husband of Virginia (Fowler) Burns; Richard and Ginnie are loving parents of Holly Coleman of Harwich, Elaine Cutting of Middleboro, Deborah Sampson Browning of Wareham, Ann-Marie Hatch of Rockland, Lisa O'Brien of Medway, and the late Craig and Wade Burns; Loving son of the late Edward and Jean Burns; Loving brother of the late Edward Burns and Barbara Gallagher; 8 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Richard was born in S. Weymouth and graduated from Rockland High School in 1948. He was a self employed contractor and Building Superintendent for many years and was the Superintendent of Streets in Abington from 1978 until retirement in 1998. Richard was a member of the Plymouth County Highway, Barnstable County Highway, The Ma Highway Association, John Cutler Lodge, and Mt. Vernon Cemetery Board of Trustees. His hobbies included gardening, woodworking, and he enjoyed vacations in Maine. Visitation will be held at the Quealy & Son Funeral Home 116 Adams St., Abington Tuesday Dec. 1 from 4 to 8pm.
