Richard MacLeod, 66, of Abington, MA, passed away on August 26, 2023, after a short battle with cancer. He was born on April 8, 1957, in Norwood, MA, to Shirley (Johnson) MacLeod and the late Norman MacLeod.

Richard was the loving husband of Nancy (Budrick) MacLeod of Abington, MA. He was the loving father of Richard T. MacLeod of Carlsbad, CA, and Jason MacLeod of Walpole, MA, and his wife, Tiffany. Richard was also the loving stepfather of Eric Sugrue and his wife, Emily, of Abington, MA, Jason Sugrue and his partner, Tiffany, of Surprise, AZ, Lisa Califano and her husband, Anthony, of Hanover, MA, and Kristen McArdle and her husband, Christopher, of Hanover, MA. Richard cherished his role as a grandfather to Jermelle, Kyle, Aiden, Danica, Devin, Lila, Benjamin, Julia, Joseph, Ryan, and Matthew.

Richard was one of 9 children; he is survived by his siblings Elizabeth A. Bugden of Fairhaven, Kenneth J. MacLeod of Attleboro, Kevin J. MacLeod of Plymouth, Shirley M. MacLeod of Plymouth, and Norma J. MacLeod of Plymouth. Richard was predeceased by Douglas and Keith MacLeod and Mary Blatt.

Richard grew up in Canton, MA, and attended Canton High School. After graduating, he served in the U.S. Army from 1975 to 1978, which was a source of great pride for Richard, surpassed only by the pride and love he had for his family.

Richard was a life-long outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and nature. And, above all else, he loved spending time with family.

A visitation will be held at the Quealy & Son Funeral Home 116 Adams Street, Abington on Tuesday September 5 from 4PM to 6PM. Followed by a funeral home service will be at 6PM. Interment will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery on Wednesday September 6 at 11:30 AM. Please go directly to the cemetery
