Obituary

Richard J. Manduca of East Wareham passed away on May 7, 2026. He was 76 years old.

Richard was a resident of Abington for 69 years before retiring from the Coast Guard in Weymouth and moving to Wareham, where he earned the nickname "Buoy Guy" from the Coast Guard. He drove an 18-wheeler up and down the East Coast for over 40 years.

He was the beloved husband for 42 years of the late Denise (Kelly) Manduca; devoted father of Richard Manduca Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Wareham, and the late Edward Manduca of Abington; loving grandfather of Savine Manduca and her long time partner Hayden King, James Manduca and his wife Sarah, and Hailey Manduca, all of Wareham; and cherished great-grandfather of Ainslee Manduca, Owen Vandeveter, and Carter Manduca.

Richard was the loving son of the late Eunice and Salvatore Manduca of Marion. He was the dear brother of the late Eunice Svirtunis, Loretta Holtz, Joseph Manduca, Ellen Manduca, Marie Manduca and John Manduca He also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Richard was honorably discharged from the Navy and was a past member of the South Shore HOGS Motorcycle Club in Whitman, a Third Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus Council 2911, and a member of the Hanson Gun Club. He especially enjoyed sitting in his truck watching the ocean at Onset Pier and spending time at Cowbells.

Services will be private.
