Obituary

With great sadness we announce the passing of Richard Weixler, affectionately known by all as Dickie, on November 3, 2024.  Dickie grew up in a family of  seven, and would tell tales of the incredible trouble he would cause, much to the grief of his mother Ann. He graduated from trade school and spent his young years working every job he could, from gas attendant to metalwork, to take care of his loving wife Robyn and his son Cliff. They eventually made their way south to Florida, where he worked for many years as a golf course mechanic. In that time, every person who met him could tell you two things about him: he loved nothing more than a good laugh, and that if he had it and could share it, it was yours, and be it a quick snack or a tool. He was generous often to a fault, and he often took care of the neighborhood kids and sometimes the adults. Some of our favorite memories were decorating golf carts for Halloween and stirring up chaos every year, of which a love for a good scare is something his son will forever hold dear. He also was a lover of animals big and small, feeding every stray cat and dog, and sometimes cows and horses, but especially loved what was intended to be his son's orange tabby Lionel, who quickly became his steadfast companion. This continued with Spooky, and now Butterscotch, all of whom knew him for his gentle soul and pocket full of snacks. He is survived by a great family, including his wife Robyn, his son Cliff, his sister Carol and her husband Gary, their children Cassey and Kristie and their families, his sister in law Susan, their children Chris and Steven and their families, his brother Timmy and his wife Carol Ann, his brother Carly and his children Heather, Kristin, and Carly, his brother John and his wife Eileen and their children Christine and Katy, and his youngest brother Jody. This is only a fraction of those whose lives that Dickie has touched, all of whom will miss his bad jokes and old soul. He has joined his mother Ann, his father Carl, and his brother Michael and many furry friends that eagerly await him.

Though we are never given enough time with the people we love, we will always hold his presence in our hearts. So if you can, pop open a High Life of a PBR and have a drink to the great man we will all surely miss, I know I will.
