Robert C.
Burgess
September 22, 1939 – September 14, 2024
Robert Burgess, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2024, at the age of 84, surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 22, 1939, in Meriden, CT, Bob lived a life rich in love, adventure, and service.
Bob was the devoted husband of Beatrice M. (Davey) Burgess for 59 wonderful years. Together, they embarked on countless journeys, with Bob at the wheel and Bea navigating with a map. Their shared love of travel took them to many destinations along the East Coast, creating cherished memories along the way.
He is survived by his wife Beatrice M. Burgess (Davey) and daughter Kathleen M. (Burgess) Zimo and her husband Ahied R. Zimo of East Dennis, MA; his grandchildren, Joseph Zimo and his wife Jessica Zimo, and great-granddaughter Sabine Zimo, all of Chicago, IL; and Nadia Zimo and her husband Nicholas Acquadro of Jamaica Plain, MA.
Bob's life was marked by his dedication to both family and his passions. Growing up on a golf course, he continued to play throughout his life. His love for golf was matched by his commitment to his country. Bob served proudly in the U.S. Navy as part of the aviation crew on the USS Enterprise during the Vietnam War.
In his professional life, Bob worked for many years as a mechanic specializing in heavy-duty equipment at Simeone in Stoughton. In his later years, he found joy in landscaping at High Pond Estates, where he also resided.
Bob was a man who placed family above all, with his meticulously cared-for yard and lawn a close second. He was known for his warmth, generosity, and the stories he shared with those around him.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Ashley of the Norwell VNA and the dedicated doctors and nurses at Tufts Medical Center for their compassionate care.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, service, and the joy of storytelling will forever be remembered.
Visitation will be held at Quealy & Son Funeral Home 116 Adams Street, Abington on Tuesday September 24 from 4 PM to 7 PM. Followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 7 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Palestine Children's Relief Fund (PCRF.net) in Bob's memory.
